What is Choreos?

CHOREOS IS EMOTION.

From the tension between song, poetry and movement in the ancient Greek sense of musiké grows the energy that allows CHOREOS to become a firework of emotions.

MUSIC IS MOVEMENT

CHOREOS productions reveal this primordial impulse for movement. It is connected with space and light and shaped for representation. As a result, the musical work is experienced in a new physical wholeness, in which sound and movement do not compete with each other, but complement and enrich each other in a fruitful way.
The inspiration for the work with CHOREOS is the person who in his truthfulness is a role model for the ensemble in the representation on the stage. Music as uncompromising sound is not illustrated at CHOREOS, but opened up by a further level of perception, thereby expanding the spectrum of emotions that are aroused in the audience by the performance.
The knowledge of the space and the energies resting in it are also used by CHOREOS for the staging of choral singing. The dialogue between internal and external perception, the interactions between the individual and the collective as well as choral singing at the highest level – these are the basic approaches of CHOREOS.

DAMAR

04 damar - sonja hor i dans

PROJECT DAMAR PRESENTS CHORAL THEATRE

DAMAR is a combination of different artistic expressions, gathered around one basic theme. The musical stage performance, which contains original (specifically written for the project) music for the Mixed Choir a Cappella, composed by Damjan Deurić, is inspired by the lives of seven people, but through their works and many similar destinies. Interwoven with a traditional and modern artistic approach – DAMAR offers answers to certain relevant, socially sensitive questions through artistic vision, ie vocal-scenic expression.

The mixed choir of AKUDUNS “Sonja Marinković”, led by conductor Dunja Deurić in cooperation with the dance ensemble DANS, led by Mia Inić and Tatjana Grujić, will provide the audience with a modernized approach to vocal and performing arts, and thus an insight into the latest trends of choral art in the world.

ABOUT "SONJA" AND "DANS"

ABOUT SONJA CHOIR

The mixed choir of the Academic Cultural and Artistic Association of the University of Novi Sad “Sonja Marinkovic” is one of the few choirs in our country with tradition of more than six decades, while keeping pace with contemporary European trends in choral art.

The choir, especially in the last seven years of its activities, has won considerable number of awards and recognitions from domestic and world competitions and festivals (among other things, the award for the winner of the 51st Mokranjac Days 2016, as well as two gold medals as the only representative of Serbia at the Choral Olympics 2019 in Gothenburg, Sweden), and a large number of references and positive reviews from domestic and international experts in the field of choral creativity (such as musicologist Dr. Sonja Marinkovic, conductor Prof. Dr. Miloje Nikolic and others Tamara Adamov Petijević, composer Zoran Simjanović, music critic Marija Adamov and many others – but also relevant experts from the world scene, such as: Karmina Šilec, Eve Floyd, Enrique Miarma, Marchetti Mauro, Wolfgang Ziegler, Javier Bust, Burger Christ, Lena Ekman Frisk , Ingvi Jana and many others).

As the first section of the Society, the Choir was led only by top experts in the field (Imre Toplak, Vojislav Ilić, Matija Pajor, Jasmina Nešković, Hilda Pucarević, Danijela Hodoba Leš, etc.), and for the last 7 years under the leadership of Dunja Deurić (awarded young conductors), the choir gained a new dimension and kept pace with world artistic choral trends, among other things combining choral artistic expression with stage movement and elements of acting.

Lutermann’s large discography and his numerous recordings for radio broadcastings and television stations display his musical style competence and his curiosity in exploring lost works and contemporary music.

As a choir conductor Lutermann ethuses the audience with his different ensembles. He has won several international prices, such as the „Schütz trophy” in Cork 2013 and is frequently invited as a jury member.
2010 Lutermann initiated the 1. European choir festival „Sing We And Chant It“, which brought children and youth choirs from Sweden, Hungary and Germany together. Connected to the festival a symposium with the topic „Tendencies and developments of children’s voices“ was held. Lutermann’s dedication for the younger generation of choral singers is also displayed in several collaboration projects with the german Goethe-Institut and the French Alliance francaise in Ghana and Burkina Faso.

Stephan Lutermann is currently working as a church musician at the church of St. Matthews in Melle/Germany, with its historic Klausing organ (1713), which was renovated by Hendrik Ahrend in 2009. Furthermore he teaches conducting as a lecturer at the Hochschule Osnabrück and is founder and artistic director of the chamber choir „Vokalconsort Osnabrück“.
In recent years Lutermann is intensely dealing with the subject of choir and movement. Together with the choreographer Lars Scheibner he brought several productions such as der

Johannespassion by J. S. Bach or “Ein deutsches Requiem” by Johannes Brahms on stage. In 2016 this fruitful collaboration led to the foundation of CHOREOS, which is the first ensemble of its kind worldwide. The first two productions “The TYGER” and “Dream (e)scapes” were enthusiastically received and reviewed.
2020 Lutermann has committed his many years of experiences in this field to paper. His book “Singen in 3D – die CHOREOS Methode” will be published soon.
